Windows 95

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to discuss 'warez' here, but I've been looking for Windows 95 in order to run some old programs that simply won't work on XP, but Torrentspy is confusing me. There's torrents ranging from 20MB to 600MB all claiming to be Win95. Can this be right?

If all I need is the basic bare-bones OS, which one should I download? I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Sir,
If I may ask, why would you even consider downloading Microsoft Windows 95?

Define "old programs"
If you mean a DOS program, there is always DosBox...
also, right-click and try compatibility mode.

Check the comments, also check out sites other than torrentspy

>If I may ask, why would you even consider downloading Microsoft Windows 95?
Because the stuff I want to use doesn't work on XP. If I can dl 95 I can Virtual Machine it and run said stuff.

>Define "old programs"
"programs that used to work when many years ago I was using Win95, but fail to launch now that I have XP"

>If you mean a DOS program, there is always DosBox..
Doesn't work. It specifically needs Win95 (I suspect 98 might work as well but I haven't tried).

>also, right-click and try compatibility mode.
First thing I tried. Doesn't work.

>Check the comments
There's hardly any comments (apart from one guy asking "does this work?" and not getting any replies).

>also check out sites other than torrentspy
Excuse me for being an internets nooblet, but... what other sites?

Win95 came on something like 11 or 15 1.44mb floppies, or a cd version.  The cd version had extras including an avi of Weezer's 'Buddy Holly'.  Both sizes seem about right for each version. I think the Win NT 4 cd may have a folder with a 95 install in it too, called 'client' or something.

Damn, I'm old...

Yeah, I've got a pile of Win95 install floppy-disk sets, with booklets, still in shrinkwrap.  WTF do I do with these goddamn things?

Didn't 98 have DOS too?

Ok I'll download the floppy version then and see if it works. I'm not too big of a fan of Weezer anyway.

By the way, 1.44mb are diskettes, not floppy-disks. =P
Can't even remember the last time I used a floppy. Those things were awesome.

Mmm, nostalgia...

Christ, #10, I used to have a drive unit that allowed two 8-inch floppies (as you said, REAL floppy "floppies") to be mounted and run.  It was a monster.  I also still have 5.25" floppy drives AND FLOPPIES around here.  Egads!

But you're right.  I have Win95 (A version) on DISKETTES around here.  Still, how do I get rid of them?  What are my chances for selling them for a buck or two apiece on Craigslist?  Is eBay better for selling off the 12 or so packs I have in one go?
