Power Calibration Error

Name: Anonymous 2007-07-09 13:55 ID:L05FkReV

I've been trying to burn some data DVDs lately, and I keep getting this error.  I noticed that it always happens 1 minute and 10 seconds into the burning process, and that as long as I don't tell Nero to finalize the disc, it seems to be completely blank and I can try to write to it again.  I don't have any other brands of blank media (and I don't want to go buy some), but each time I try with a different DVD+R from the spindle I get the error at the same time, 1:10.  It seems to me that even if the media is bad, it wouldn't all be bad at exactly the same place.  Or would it?  I beseech your expertise, /comp/.

I'm using Nero Burning Rom 7 with a Sony DVD RW DRU-510A.  It's an old drive, and it can only burn at 2x, 2.4x, or 4x.  I've tried all of these.

Is it a case of bad media, a dying drive, or some sort of driver / software problem?  Thanks in advance.

try upgrading firmware

It sounds like you should go ahead and delete the contents of /windows/system32 as they are most likely to be conflicting with your DVD burning driver

You need a paradigm shift.

I'm using the latest firmware; thanks for the suggestion though.

The disk media ID is MCC 004, brand name is Verbatim.

I've been wondering: even if it is the DVDs, and they are all bad, is it possible to use them anyway and somehow just skip the damaged section of the disc?  What causes a disc to be "bad"?

Are you using the internet at the moment of burning and/or in an old computer aswell?

I used to have problems while being connected (even if I was not downloading something, including browsing) and trying to burn stuff, always had an error with 2-3% left of the process. Had disconnect to burn properly.

After I upgraded to a better computer I never had that problem again.

I doubt that all your disks are bad. Try to burn something on a different computer with those disks.

Don't change these.
