Firefox/XP fucked

/b/, help a humble one of your number. I have computer problems. Bad 'uns. After running Eraser to overwrite some unused hard drive space XP decides to fuck itself. Outlook won't let me open messages, firefox is taken up half by grey with red writing about chrome (it reset my toolbars but kept my bookmarks/add ons). Icons on the desktop have lost their pics and display their run in field as chinese. Firefox was redirecting to a foreign language version of the site...though that's changed now.

What is it? AVG/Ad-Aware/Spybot S&D haven't turned up anything.

If you fucked up your HDD there isn't a one click solution.  Gotta a backup?  Can you wipe your drive and reinstall windows if not?

Tried backups. Didn't work. I guess I'll have to reinstall...I have a pirate copy of xp around here somewhere...
