mpeg/avi to DVD software

looking to take my bit torrented mpeg and avi files and burn them to DVD to play in a standard dvd player. do i need to encode them into vob or something first, or is there software that'll do that more or less on the fly while burning?

ok, i used this, and i get two folders. AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.

so far every option on either nero or roxio only takes the video folder. i'm wondering if there's a program or option on either of those two applications that use the audio file, and if not, does the audio file really matter?

also, i tried making it a data disc, but i think it was nero that said that it wouldn't play properly if burned as data...
