formatting SD card

hey guys, i got a small question for ya.

i found this 1 gig SD card on the ground at my work, and it's got some files on it. i found an email address in one of the word files, and sent an email to it asking if they had lost an SD card. it's been like two weeks so far and no answer. since i dont think anyone is gonna claim it, i'm trying to format the card but it says it's write protected. there's a little switch on the actual card but on 'unlocked' so it's not that, but when i try taking 'read only' off some of the files individually, they go back to being checked.

any ideas on how to clean out this thing? any sort of hard format that'll ignore read only stuff?

it says:

[Formatting Removable Disk (J:)]
[!] The disk is write protected.

when deleteing individual files it says:

[Error in Deleting File or Folder]
(x) Cannot remove folder AudiblePlayer: The disk is write-protected.
Remove the write-protection or use another disk.
