Any idea why IE would stop connecting to the 'net, even though Firfox can? (In b4 browser flame war.)
My mom called all upset because she could no longer connect to the 'net. IE gave that unable to load page error. But she noticed messenger could still connect. I went over and isntalled Firefox (which I'd been trying to get her to do for some time anyhow), and she can surf the 'net jsut fine. but IE still won't conenct. I jsut thought this was odd and was wondering why this might be.

Probably either malware or some sort of misconfiguration.

HE COULD CONNECT TO MESSENGER WHICH MEANS HIS INTERNET CONNECTION IS OK, AND SOME FRIEND OF HIS CAN JUST SEND HIM A COPY OF FIREFOX VIA MESSENGER.
OR HE COULD USE SOME TOOL LIKE wget
FAG.

Actually, I had an .exe. install file for Firefox on my computer which I jsut brought over on a flash card.
I don't think she even had a proxy set up, but I'll check next time I'm over there.
Another strange thing, with Firefox, some of the games she plays on the MSN Games site refuse to load. Is this due to MS trying to force people to use IE to play games on their site? I certainly wouldn't put it past MS to do so, but can they even make something that's web-based be browser-specific like that?
