Processor

So, how does one go about choosing a processor? I've decided to build a computer to familiarize myself with hardware, and this is really the one thing I know nothing about. My mobo is AM2, and I'm thinking of getting a dual core. But beyond that, I'm lost. HALP?

When AMD was on top less than 2 whole years ago, I was cheering up the sullen Intel fanboys too.  Who knows, maybe one of my unbiased posts from back then kept YOU from crying over owning a Celeron D or some shit.  Don't fag out over such small things.

Whole reason I asked about what mobo you already own was to keep some fag from telling you to shove it up your ass just because it wasn't LGA775.  If it's worth keeping, I'll tell you so.
