How can I speed up my computer?

I'm currently running a 256RAM Pentium III piece of shit.

Running Firefox and winamp (with the classic skin) lags like a bitch.

How can improve my computers' response speeds without buying a new processor?

it was basicly a poweredup p2 with some extra registers and opcodes, this was why they had to redesign almost everything within the core to get above ~1ghz
