Fuckin vista

I come to /g/ with a plea for help. I've tried many a thing, including deleting system32, but I cannot for the life of me fix this fucking sound problem. I'll tell you all I've gathered so far..

Issue: When rendering 3D games (both Direct3D and OpenGL) the sound will occassionally distort or cut off entirely, only resolved by quitting and restarting said game.

Attempted fixes: Latest SB Audigy 2 ZS drivers, Latest Nvidia Forceware drivers, latest Intel P965 express chipset drivers, latest updates for DX10 and Vista (ultimate 32-bit), switched from Audigy 2 to on-board AC'97 audio, switched from Nvidia 6600 to Nvidia 8600 GTS (no change), switched from Nvidia 6600 to onboard intel 965 graphics (problem went away, but FPS went to shit), enabled Vsync in games, changed system memory, disabled hardware acceleration for audio including EAX, changed gameplay resolutions (only seems to happen at the res matching my desktop, 1600x1200x32, and since that's my monitor's native res, I'd prefer that res), tried different games (WoW, Supreme Commander, C&C3, HL2, Warcraft 3, all do it).

Possible fixes still include: Going back to WinXP, becoming an hero, ???, profit!

If anyone's experienced this same issue, PLEASE help me, it's the only thing stopping me from enjoying my vistaids.

Spoilers: It's Vista. You're fucked!

If you know this problem only happens in Vista then a good guess for the cause is that the drivers are poor for many devices.  It is odd that your attempted fixes seem to have shown that the problem is tied to graphics.  Apparently the word on the net is that Vista Nvidia graphics card drivers absolutely blow, which matches up with your troubleshooting.

get the Ati 2900 or x1800 if you are on a budget

Okay.

PRO NERD TIP!!!!

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

You need to apply semen between your CPU and cooler.
Also for extra speed, apply very little semen on every cable inside your PC. This will isolate the calbes further and it will cool the cables.

I had narrowed it down as such myself, though my roommate uses the same video card, motherboard, CPU, and OS, without the sound issue I have.

It throws a fucking wrench in my prior research..

Anyways, >>1, please listen to me. Not that it's really related to this conversation.
I went to Best Buy to check out Vista a while ago; you know, Windows Vista? Well anyways there was an insane number of people buying it, and I could hardly get around the end of the line. Then, I looked at the banner posted at the top of the retail box glory stack, and it had "CONNECTED" written on it.
Oh, the stupidity. Those idiots. You, don't come to Windows Vista just because it has the internet, fool. It's only the internet, A SERIES OF TUBES for crying out loud. There're even entire families here. Family of 4, all surfing the internet, huh? How fucking nice. "Alright, daddy's gonna run Internet Explorer!" God I can't bear to watch. You people, I'll give you Opera if you get off of this bandwagon.
The software lane of Best Buy should be a bloody place. That tense atmosphere, where two nerds on opposite sides of the aisles can start a slapfight at any time, The stab-or-be-stabbed mentality, that's what's great about Windows Vista. Women and children should screw off and stay home.
Anyways, I was about to start bringing clarity to my world, checking my email and browsing the web, and then the bastard beside me goes "Safeguard my Data With BitLocker Drive Encryption." Who in the world uses BitLocker Drive Encryption, you moron? I want to ask him, "do you REALLY want to have Microsoft perform discreet math on everything in your hard drive?" I want to interrogate him. I want to interrogate him for roughly an hour. Are you sure you don't just want to try saying "Drive Encryption"? Coming from a not4chan veteran such as myself, the latest trend among us vets is this, CP-lab.com. That's right, CP-lab.com (it stands for cryptography - really). This is the vet's way of not getting v&. CP-lab.com means more security than obscurity. But on the other hand the risk of losing files in a hard disk crash is a tad higher. This is the key. And then, it's delicious. This is unbeatable. However, if you do this this then there is danger that you'll be marked by the feds from next time on; it's a double-edged sword. I can't recommend it to amateurs. What this all really means, though, is that you, >>1, should just stick with today's special.

It was copy pasta'd from my /g/ thread where they complained of it being a support thread. Ironically, the thread went into the exact same direction as my /g/ thread, flaming vista, and me for using it.

The irony here is vista works fine except for that small problem. It's not enough of a problem for me to go back to XP. Use it now or use it later, either way you're eventually going to have to use it if you want to play windows games.

Oddly enough, the DX10 lost planet demo does not seem to incur the wrath of my sound bug. Not entirely shocking, but still unexpected.

Protip: Look before you leap. I fucking beta tested windows vista and had proper working sound on beta audigy 2 and nvidia drivers. When they finalized the sound device management stuff is when my shit fucked up. I was part of the research you seem to think I disregarded.

The irony is Vista will be the death of PC's...

So maybe you'd like to explain exactly WHAT THE FUCK WENT WRONG?!

What, $6bil wasn't enough to send a fucking post-it-note memo to a dept. head? GTFO. Seriously.
