Hello everyone,
I'm running Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 with Flashplayer 9 installed on a fairly new Debian GNU/Linux.
My problem is that whenever I visit websites that require flash, sites like youtube, dailymotion or 4chan /f/ they tend to crash the whole browser very often. I've noticed that this happens normally when I'm trying to CLOSE a tab with a flash animation.
What I have also noticed is that the stand-alone player Adobe provides with the plugin - gflashplayer tends to crash in an exact same way - right after attempting to close.
I guess that the problem is either with the way I configured gflashplayer, the environment or maybe something's wrong with the executable itself.
Another thing. As far as I know the Flashplayer 9 package is proprietary (non-free, the source code is secret, modifying or trying to reproduce the code is illegal). It is one of the very few proprietary packages I have with my OS that I had to install out of necessity. Is it possible to use only free software for playing and interacting with flash 9 animations?
I am doing some "research" on this on the internet right now and will most likely find a way that's most suitable for me sooner or later. I'll post the outcome in this thread. If you ever had the same or similar problem before please point me in the right direction and help me to find the best workaround or solution.
