Chinese (Simplified) IME

So I went to a Chinese restaurant, and business was very slow there. So I talked to the waitress (she was very nice and cute), she sat down across from me and we talked. To make a long story short, I tried helping her install an IME for Simplified Chinese on her computer, because I had to install a Japanese one for my computer. Thought there wouldn't be a problem, since I did something simliar. But... I failed misurably. I tried it at home, and I still can't get it to work. Is there something that I need to know, or something that I'm doing wrong? Halp plz!
