IDE or SATA

I just got my new 150GB SATA hard drive and I love it. So far I'm just using it to store my games, pictures, and "movies". Would it increase the performance of my applications if they are installed on an SATA drive instead of IDE? My mobo supports 3.0gb/s SATA as a sidenote.
