How to reformat macbook

I bought a used macbook at a pawn shop.   I can't install any software because its protected with a password.  I have the original install disks, but I don't know how to boot from them or anything.  Is there any way to just wipe this computer clean and start over?

Found the solution...  I just have to hold down the 'c' key during boot to boot from the cd
