Image Comparing Software

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-31 4:18 ID:Ra7we1Z+

Before I reinstalled Windows I used a program called Image Comparer to find duplicate images. It was a pretty awesome program.
Anyways, I installed 2.3 and I can't find a working patch/crack/serial for it (surprisingly the one from SnD didn't work)
Anyways, I'm looking for a program very similar to Image Comparer, as in, the methods it compares images and the UI.
Or a working crack for IC.

In before b& etc.

UIs are for losers. Write a script that hashes of the pixel colors and use that to compare files.

Image Comparer is more convenient for me.

You are kidding arent you ?  That sounds preposterous to me.  I think you need to re-examine your assumptions.

Have you used Image Comparer?

Oh and uh, comparing images just based on pixel colors isn't going to do much for me. There are duplicate images that have different colors. One image will be brighter, the other darker in some cases. Or, one image will have a watermark in the corner while the other doesn't.

I know, I know. I was just kidding.

Yeah I used that for a little while but it didn't detect as much as Image Comparer did

is there such a software on linux ?

DupDetector is pretty simple, it should run fine on Wine. I sure hope it does, have to take care of my H collection and I'm migrating Winders to GNAA/Lunix.

GQview works well enough for me.

xplorer2 can detect dupes using the scrap bin

Thanks for the info kind sir, so does GQview look for possibly duplicate images / same H pic with fuzzy comparison? It's trivial to detect exact identical files; I need something like DupDetector that will let you know of images that look similar even if the files are different (even across different file formats) for Linucks.

Image Comparer:

Publisher Description

Fast and easy duplicate images finder. Calculates similarity percentage.

While there are quite a few software applications that compare images in order to find duplicates, there is only one solution that has own unique comparison algorithm. While most applications can only locate duplicate images of the same format, Image Comparer will identify the same images even if one is a JPEG and another is a Bitmap image.
Furthermore, Image Comparer can identify duplicate images even if they have different sizes and resolution settings. Programs unique algorithm can even identify similar images. The program shows the degree of similarity; 100% means the two images are identical, 95% means that one of the images was probably altered and so on.

The program is of great interest to professional photographers, designers, and web masters who have image-heavy sites to maintain. Image Comparer is incredibly fast; after a minute or two one can see how many duplicate images are stored and how much disk space will be saved by removing the duplicates.

The dupes can then be removed all at once with one button click. Alternatively, a user can specify which images need to be deleted, moved or copied.

In addition, the program can be also used to search for images. The list of supported image file formats includes JPEG, J2K, BMP, GIF, PCX, PNG, TIFF, TGA, ICO, CUR.
