Party to be thrown for Wii browser release
Oslo, Norway - March 25, 2007

A huge party is to be organized in Oslo by Opera Software ASA to celebrate the release of the Opera-powered Wii Internet Channel in April. After a speech to be delivered by Jon S. von Tetzchner, co-founder and CEO of Opera Software ASA, and Satoru Shibata, president of Nintendo of Europe, the UK metal band DragonForce will give a free concert to celebrate the event.

The Wii Internet Channel is a full-featured web browser that supports every web 2.0 Ajax website, such as the My Opera community. "Im creating a my opera community of hackers" says fairX, a My Opera Community member, "if you payme enough i will give you access to a private area of haxx ;)"

The unparalleled speed of the Wii Internet Channel received a lot of critical acclaim. Wii Internet Channel beta tester tablecat says that "it's so fast, I can't browse while listening to eurobeat anymore, because it makes it sound so slow desu nyo."
"What really makes the difference", according to Håkon Wium Lie, CTO of Opera Software ASA, "is the  sick set of CFLAGS we used. As on the Wii, there is no /opt to make people feel the impact, we had to use the Wiimote force feedback features to make users feel the speed."

"Opera is the fastest browser on earth," says DragonForce lead guitarist Herman Li, "so it's only natural that the fastest metal band on earth would be invited to play at this event. ".

"These guys sound wicked", says free software leader Richard M. Stallman. "I'm sure their concert will remind me of all those D&D games we used to play late at night in the MIT AI Laboratory. The Wii browser is a core element of the multi-platform strategy of Opera Software ASA. "The Wii browser is great news for the Mac", says Apple Inc. co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs. "As kids growing up with the Wii will comme to appreciate the Opera experience, they will definitely start saving $5,000 to experience it to its fullest on OS X".

Negociations are underway to broadcast the concert live in the streets of Saitama, Japan. According to the Japanese organizers of the event, "it carries out and is w".

Stay tuned for more details.

Wii has 88 megabytes of system RAM, that's just not enough for a decent browsing session with tabs. Not having a bloated operating system to deal with may help somewhat but it'll still have to decompress images and stuff into its memory to display them. Browsing /hr/'s certainly out of the question (88 MB's less than eight decompressed 2000x2000 RGB24 images, and the memory must contain the browser and any other media, too).

tl;dr: The Wii's not big enough for 4chan.

It doesn't have to decompress images to 2000×2000, does it? It can limit it to a certain number of pixels, decompressing and resampling block by block, and handling the image as if it were 1000×1000.
