Windows Vista

So I finally bought Windows Vista for my PC and it's pretty good. I've debunked every single negative rumor about it (such as it being graphically intense and requiring lots of ram (it's possible to use it with just 1/2gb of ram with the lower graphical settings), random file scanning/deletion and other stuff) and it doesn't really have any downsides. I'd choose Vista over Mac OSX or Linux any day because of the great security features and the ability to recover nearly any deleted or corrupted file.

I know many people on this board strongly dislike Vista and even refer to it as "Vistaids", such "wit" typical of 4channers, but the biased Mac commercials which portray Microsoft's OS in a bad light are not accurate in the least. At least get your information right before saying "OMG FAILDOWS VISTAIDS=MEGA FAIL LOLZ".

Not that many of the Mac ads really target vista specifically. The one that does is pretty accurate - the whole UAC thing.

I think you'll find that most of the sane Macfags (like me) actually kinda like Vista, though of course the hardcore ones continue to scream its name in anger as they attack their Bill Gates dartboards each night. I'm glad that Vista is working out for you anyway, as when I tried it I was pretty impressed and think it's a strong upgrade that makes it a lot harder to quantify why OS X is better - they caught up in many areas XP was lagging behind in.

It'll pass, anyway. Might take a year. If you remember back when XP came out, or when 95 came out, there were always the hangers-on claiming they'll never upgrade because of "ZOMG BLOAT!!". They did.

Getting tons of dialogs isn't security.

Vista sucks because it will not run unsigned drivers.  Meaning Microsoft is controlling which software you run.  Fuck that shit.

Running as a limited user is, and UAC is the only way to make this tenable in Windows due to (boneheaded) legacy issues. It's not a bad idea.

On a related note, how much space does a Vista installation use or rather how much space should the OS partition hold for a Vista installation?
