Adding wireless router/hub to network

Hello Anonymous,

My office is trying to expand/update its network structure, and part of it involves adding another wireless hub for improved coverage.

The way it's set up now, there are two wireless routers on the network of wired desktops and hubs. One is on the ground floor, acting as the connection to the DSL modem (we're a pretty small outfit). When computers boot up, they should normally look to this router to assign an IP (192.168.1.*).

The new one that's giving me trouble is on the second floor and is currently connected into the network via one of the hubs. This 2nd floor router is to act as nothing more than a station for wireless computers to access the network.

the problem I'm getting is that now when some of the desktops boot up, they look to the 2nd floor router first, asking for an IP address. It complies, but gives them one that gets no Internet coverage ( 192.168.11.*).

My question is is there some way I can get the 2nd floor router to act more like just a hub? I'm not sure if shutting down it's IP assigning abilities down is the right way to go, since it's supposed to handle any wireless connections.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Sincerely,
Anonymous

if it is a router, why not just get it to route 192.168.11's non-local traffic through 192.168.1.1 (presumably your intarweb gateway)?

Don't change these.
