I just got a new drawing tablet, what are some good, simple programs that support one?

Don't listen to this fag. The GIMP is a full-featured replacement for Photoshop that supports tablets.

Paint.NET is ace, but as far as I know it doesn't support pressure tablets, or is there a way you can configure it to?

I think you got your priorities mixed up:
It's supposed to be:
1. Get a computer that can run Photoshop
2. Get a drawing tablet

You did 2. before 1. ...

My computer is perfectly capable of running photoshop, but most of the time I just do simple sketches without editing, and it's like using a private airplane to go grocery shopping.

seriuously this time (I'm >>2) : the gimp

OP here, well I'm using Open Canvas now, so far liking it, but I'll try Gimp anyway, thanks.

it's >>2 again. if you want to try gimp and running under windows, take a look at gimpshop (a single window modification of gimp) cos maybe you won't get used to the gimp interface which is faggotry for some people.

last time i tried gimpshop it was unstable as fuck

That's no different from the unmodified Gimp.

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-11 14:06 ID:cE54qo29

The Gimp interface is actually the best around, it's just that you need to have a decent WM. Of course people using microshit or macfags with their Aqua WM will have a bad experience. Having such a bad environment is just as retarded as asking "Why is Photoshop interface shitty on my 640x480 display?"

The Gimp interface is actually the best around
No, it's not. Even if you use a decent WM and properly lock down all the windows, the UI is just shitty.

It's the worst around. Period.

I don't know for mac OS, but under Linux I've found a good wm to manage gimp interface : E16. Since newer versions you can autoshade windows, I made it for gimp toolboxes, they shade from left to right, so it appears only when I need it and use the single window without being annoyed.

When was this last time ? Never used it, though, so maybe you're right.
