Upgrading processor...

Name: zombie-chan 2007-03-07 19:26 ID:Sz9iBRbm

If  I were to buy a new processor and install it, would my current install of Windows still work? I get the feeling that the answer is no, but I figured I'd see. I looked around on Google for the answer, but I didn't see anything about it.

Thanks to anyone that takes this seriously and actually answers me. ♥

Windows will stop working, but Opera will still work.

Why wouldn't it?

You don't need drivers for a CPU, and the activation crap considers more than a CPU.

in my experience, Windows still chokes on things that 'should work' regardless of logic and sanity.  never tried it with only a processor upgrade though.

You've used U+2665 BLACK HEART SUIT "♥" character. Are you female?

Not if that new processor requires a new motherboard with a new chipset. Windows tends to blue screen on boot if that happens.

Thanks. I guess I'll try it, and if it doesn't work, I'll reinstall.
