/r/ a Unix-like copypasta for Windows

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-18 1:23

I use the Firefox extension Autocopy to implement Unix-like copy/paste, but I'm curious if there's a way to universally implement this.

No, I'm not switching to Linux.  gb2/eating, fatty.

You can use the notes system in Opera. Right click, Insert note.

Faggot. Copypasta is one of the few things that works poorly under Linux and has stupid common hippy usage.

Do you seriously think nerds are fat?  You must be very confused/amerikan.

Here's some copypasta.  Copy it, then pasta.

`echo "C> C7 ^" | tr '!-~' 'P-~!-O'`

Warning, make sure you have a fork limit set before running that.

Why did you spoil it?

just because you can't use it does not mean it works poorly.

there are 2 copypasta registers in *nix/X.  one works exactly like windows(fail). the other one works like, 1. Highlight text. 2. set cursor to desired position. 3. middle-click.

IF YOU CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT, YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO BREATHE.

In some applications, these are mixed, which means every time you select text you fuck your clipboard. In some others, even worse shit happens, because X and anything over it always sucked for clipboards, because Unix lacks a decent terminal-wide standard clipboard. And then there's the motherfucking customary wipe of the clipoard after closing applications, for which you have to use Klipper to prevent. Oh, and I like to be able to use middle click for something different.

I didn't!  Run it and you'll see!

u fail it
double secret fail for using kde (klipper)
works just fine as two registers under gnome
the middle click is the traditional *nix paste function

Nope, it doesn't work, try it yourself. It actually crashes bash.

KDE >> GNAAome, which is built on the criteria of "different from Windows" instead of the criteria of "good", has braindamaged conventions and common dialogs, and isn't really thinner.

the middle click is the traditional *nix paste function
I don't give a fuck about traditional Unix stuff. Useful > traditional. This "traditional" legacy is the reason why core utilities names and parameters tend to suck so much and be made of hack and shit. Take a look at ps, tar, etc. gb2/decades ago, Unixfags.

Whoa, Lunix fanboys. I use Lunix. Call off the dogs. I was just pointing out that one desktop, window manager and libraries for X is better than another, because the former is made to be as good as possible, and the later is made to be as different from Windows as possible by stupid GNAA guys. The KDE guys will do it right, regardless of if it matches Windows in some way or not, while the GNAA guys will go out of their way just to make it different from Windows, even if Windows had gotten something right, which happens every now and then.

As for traditional Unix stuff, again, I'm tired of it, gb2/decades. The fact old Unix legazy is ooold doesn't make Windows shit any better. Again, I was just pointing out that you don't have to worship shit, be it Microsoft's or Unix'.

Windows is an even bigger pile of shit?

I dunno. I prefer it for a desktop. The only thing I seem to use Linux's "desktop" for is to hold a dozen terminal windows.

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't blindly follow UNIX legacy cruft.

Why are you bit shifting KDE by GNAAome?
