loosing HD space

i just put cable internet not too long ago and suddenly after i did, i lost about 12gb of my hd, ive already checked all my files, and im only taking 18gb of my 31gb hd. everything i downloaded, ive checked and deleted. i compressed the drive to save space, got 10gb extra but now that ive checked ive already lost 1gb with out downloading anything, anyone knows what could be wrong?

Sometimes, money is just not enough for cable internet providers.

Sometimes, they want diskspace too.

Do what I do...I hacked Charter's little we-ownz-your-drive routine to point to a 1.44MB floppy.

When they piss me off, I copy a few text files to it and half their available space.
