AGP help!

My video card has recently died, and I'm cautious about wasting money to buy a new one that won't work with my computer.  I have a old Dell Dimension 4500 with 1 AGP.  However, I don't know if its AGP 2x, 4x, although the age of my computer makes me doubtful that it's anything fancy.  Will a 4x/8x AGP card work with my computer if my AGP is this old?

Because the web doesn't use 3D except for the odd VRML crap, you can safely use Opera without any hardware acceleration.
