mysterious freeze-ups

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-05 12:50

I use WinXP (lol there's my problem right there I know rite). Every now and then my computer will randomly freeze up. I could be doing nothing but reading a txt file in my browser, and it worked fine for the past 10 minutes but suddenly freezes up. I could be just listening to music. There is no constant to these freeze-ups and there are no errors in the Event Viewer. According to the hardware manager, everything is working fine. I've done various thorough spyware and virus scans, finding nothing. The only thing I can do when this happens is a hard reset.

Scan your RAM for errors using one of those RAM scanner thingies.

Well I left it going for 13 hours (jeez how long does that thing TAKE?) but then I got too bored and stopped it. It didn't detect any errors within that time, though. Is there any way I can scan my RAM without having to not use my computer for many hours?

Your memory is probably fine then. Have you checked the task manager to see if something is raping your resources?

Reinstall your video drivers, the source of all problems in windows.  No, really try it.

Stop using Internet Explorer.
