Why do people buy LCD monitors?

What's so fun about massive ghosting, distorting colors depending on what angle you look at the monitor, a single crappy resolution, dead pixels, etc.?

Why don't people just buy excellent CRTs?

I don't play games, much, what really matters is scrolling webpages, I want to be able to read as I scroll.  Every millisecond lost is a distaster.
