Windows Vista - Worth It?

"vista like all other versions of windows wont really become stable til after SP2... or 3 or 4 or..."

   I'm new to XP (with SP2). I was quite pleased with the quick two download Windows update.....

   Then last night when I went to shutdown a screen appeared saying the first of 47 updates was being installed.

   Figures, Windows is the patchwork quilt of the interbutts.
