MS needs Knoppix .... or sumpthin.
Just a heads up, there is an apparent conflict between the most recent version of Zone Alarm Security Suite and W2K, probably XP too.
Nod32 does not conflict but so far it's the only AV I've tested. I strongly suspect this conflict originates in the MS Security fixes most specifically the post SP rollup.

After two days of consultation with a MS support person usually using Live Meeting to control my box the result is a destroyed OS. He downloaded Reg Cleaner from his site, ran it and it identified 137 "problems". Since it wasn't a registered version it could only address 20 which he attempted by pushing the BIG BUTTON. He then ran a DOS command in WInnNT which crashed the box. On the phone he explained (nervously) that all was now "fixed" and the crash was normal. Upon a reboot I no longer could use IE or Opera and doubt much else works either.
I have a copy of XP arriving Friday and I'm able to back up the box to an external HDD so I'm not concerned.
If you're running Windows and experience hangs in the connections tray or other apps on shutdown don't call MS.

#3, I'm a guy who tried 3 nix distros early on. After wasting a day in Red Hat trying to sync my monitor I gave up on the critter. I realize it's more user friendly now but WTF do you want from a 61 year old who at least builds his own overclocked boxes and can run 2003 server moderately well?
I'm too old and short on time to start puttering with penguins.

oh yeah.......NO U!
