LURK MOAR. Because firefox.com used to belong to some other company, and getfirefox.com was used as the next most-suitable address for downloading the browser from. It's only in the last few months that the original owners of firefox.com gave it up.

YOUR INTERNET HISTORY IS INCORRECT. the original owners sold it shortly after 1.0 was released. firefox.com was then a place holder with links directing to that companies new website and to mozilla.com and getfirefox.com
