New Videocard

Hey, I just got a BFG Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS OC card wih 512 megs of onboard RAM.

How good is this card? I read that this was marketed at the middle-low end of the market, but I want to know how this card stacks up.

On a related topic, immediately after I got this card installed and updated the drivers (the third update attemp worked) It could run Battlefield 2, but later on that day, it could no longer play BF2. I don't know why. I defragged my HD, and deleted some useless files, but it still didn't work.

Hmm, let's see:

BFG: +20
Nvidia: +10
GeForce: +5
7600: +7.6
GS: +5
OC: +10
512 megs: +5.12
Only one card: -10
Reaallllly old: -30

In total, 22.72, not so bad!

Reaallllly old
Oh come on, right now I'm using a laptop card that doesn't even have programmable fragment shaders (but it has programmable vertex shaders for some reason).

Why the fuck would you want to program your video card, that's what the processor is for.

That was pretty retarded. Yes, it is a middle/low card. For comparison, I have a 7900 GT, which can kick your card's ass and can manage barely playable framerates on new games at max settings at 1440x900.

Dumbass or bad troll.

Not very good.

If you want to use the retarded system, it's an eVGA and I get 15 points for it being an NVidia GeForce product and 2.56 for 256MB. Also, stock OC to 500/750 (from 450/660), custom OC to 550/800. I'll take the brain damage; playing FPSs with an FOV slightly closer to the natural one is made of win. If only all developers would make the small effort required for proper widescreen support.

120^o FOV FTW.

I usually get 85. 120 would be fantastic, though you'd need a fairly tall monitor for it not to be weird.

Don't change these.
