maybe i'm ill informed, but i dont think ALL mpeg files are formatted to play automatically when burned to DVD. because of this, i need an application that will take the mpeg file i have now, and convert it so it becomes an mpeg with a codec that's able to be read by a standard DVD player. am i wrong on this? can i simply take my mpeg file i got off bit torrent and burn it to DVD and it will automatically work? if so, never mind, but it still doesn't work for some reason. if not, then i still need that application for said reasons.

thanks in advance for the help.

You need a converter, TmpgEnc Mpeg Editor. After you convert it, you will need a dvd authoring program, TmpgEnc DVD Author.

DVD Author will give you "ProjectName\Video,Audio" folders. from here, open your burning program and select dvd-video then drop the Video and Audio folders there. Burn. Test. Repeat.

some mpegs(i cant recall the prerequisites for a dvd) will drop right into the dvd author with no problem. if there is a problem, it will tell you what it is and then you can reencode it through the editor.

is there anything special i have to do when burning the file to DVD? can i just burn it as a data DVD or do i gotta pick a differnt mode (I'm using roxio btw)?

ok. i've tried using the TMPGEnc avi to mpeg editor (the free one that comes up when you type TMPGEnc into google) twice, and both times i get this weird nearly 4 gig file that's half video with no sound, and half complete black screen with no sound as well (black screen stars about 40% in the conversion process).

am i supposed to do something with this file? am i doing this wrong?

show do i shot mpeg conversion? :/

1. export audio from original file to wav
2. make mpeg2 file using tmpegenc seclecting wav for sound and video as source
3. Import finished mpeg2 file into roxio/nero
4. ????
5. PROFIT!

Don't change these.
