glossy or matte

getting a laptop soon and glossy is tempting me on and off again.

with glossy i think of my dslite and the reflections i get.
matte, like what im staring at right now, gives no reflections except the sunrise washout of my screen. fixed by sleeping in. ive always used matte on laptops and dont understand what's so great about gloss (nothing?)

its use will be outdoors occasionaly but mostly halogen lighting

Matte for me. As if I need reflections making the screen harder to read.

Shit, with the right lighting you'll catch women using the screen as a mirror to put on their makeup while you're away.

Glossy screens give the illusion of higher contrast (or perhaps actually increase the contrast? I'm not sure), and the reflections aren't that bothersome in most scenarios. I find the diffuse reflections on normal LCD's far more irritating when watching movies or playing games than the sharp reflections on glossy LCD's.

Glossy are for faggot lusers who can't think for more than a second because their neuron would overheat, and so they are like "wow ha ha look it looks like, nice, wait till I try my MSIE toolbars and Flash screensavers on that!".

People who wants a monitor and not a mirror get a decent one.

I had a (matte) Powerbook 15" last year, and a (glossy) MacBook 13" this year. I took away two things from the switch:

1 - Glossy isn't that bad, it doesn't show reflections that well (at least with modern coatings like that of the MacBook), and most people who scream about it don't really know what they're talking about. I think the coatings have got significantly better in recent years, which is why the "WARHRAGH GLOSSY FUCK FUCK FUCK!" sentiment remains.
2 - Glossy looks better outdoors (really! seems to diffuse the light more usefully) but gathers dust 500% more easily
3 - Matte is still better and I would prefer it, due to reasons of dust and the minimal reflections that I shouldn't really have to bother with at all.

I sure can count (I meant to make point 3 a paragraph :( )

Don't change these.
