New CPU

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-04 19:10

Do I need to change anything in Windows XP now that I have upgraded my processor? All the other stuff in the system is still the same (motherboard, memory, cards, etc). This new CPU is the same series as well, just a better model. Other than having a somewhat faster clock speed, it also has twice the cache. I just want to make sure Windows is getting the most out of the upgrade. I just recently formatted, and I'd rather not do it again for at least 6 months (I usually do it annually).

Oh, and in before "install Linux", etc, etc.

The only thing you'll need to do now is find the file "C:\ntldr", right click on it, go into properties, click "Advanced", then make sure to ckeck "Compress contents...". Then click OK, and reboot. Your system should now be able to fully take advantage of the extra speed.

Don't change these.
