Not rly standby

theres been a price hike on electricity recently, so I want to start using standby instead of just leaving my computer on winkey+l.

But when I put my computer on standby it seems like the only things that aren't powered are my monitor and my mouse.
All of my fans and lights still run, it seems like they actually get louder...

hibernate, powers down and saves the machine state to disk
standby really doesnt do fuck all

two of my other computers practically turn off when they go on standby

OP's computer just has shitty ACPI support. But yeah, just let it hibernate instead.
