Drivers are integrated in the kernel. Add higher resolutions in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Wireless card: Don't know. Visit the Ubuntu-site and look in the wiki AFAIK there is a pretty good guide.

it wont let me modify any of these files... when i try to log in as root it tells me i cannot log into root with that menu(the main login thing)

ndiswrapper, also need the wireless card drivers.
google will guide you, young padawan.
then, use "su root" to switch to root (u need root passwd, off course)
okay, i was able to get into root. but not with the terminal. whenever the terminal asks me for a password it wont let me type anything.
i also tries adding "1280x1024" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf so it is in the exact same format as before. but i still dont have the option of 1280x1024. i guess ill try ndiswrapper again later, but the wiki for it was still too advanced for me. ive only just installed ubuntu and its assuming i understand the commands.

"sudo su" is what you should type to get root in ubuntu since the root account is "disabled".
after changing your xorg.conf, you need to restart X. do this by logging out first, then at the login prompt, hit ctl-alt-backspace. you should then have the options you added.

"whenever the terminal asks me for a password it wont let me type anything."
Just type the password, you won't see anything but it works ._.
