I'm going insane. i swear.
i have a DI-624, and that isn't changing anytime soon.  it's a good router, don't get me wrong.  i have cable, and it does the job quite admirably.

as far as the web sights go.

when i try to play a game (Soldat or team fortress for instance), on some days it works quite great, otehr times... it seems to shoot my ping up from 40ish to 266 and back down for about 1 second, every 5-30 seconds.  this causes ridiculous annoyance in gameplay, and such, and this blows.

any suggestions?(upgrading firmware later tonight, that may fix the problem, but...)

Oh, and opening ports is driving me motherfucking insane.  it works in the firewall section, for utorrent, i know that much. the other ports...seem to not function after i set them up.  maybe need to restart(the router or computer) or some shit.

Update your firmware. Also test with Gaming Mode on and off, for most online games you should not need to open any ports. Your ping may also be affected by background programs or your ISP. If you think it is the router try connecting your computer directly into your cable modem bypassing the router and see if you get the same results.

Gaming mode is on.  plugging it into the modem isn't relaly an option,. although i'll see what i can do.

i'm almost positive that it isn't background programs, as i recently formatted/reinstalled, and the problem persisted.

actually, opening the ports completely seemed to help.
