In an attempt to upgrade from xp home edition to professional... my computer stops all activity except for the mouse and the keyboard. (Reason why im upgrading instead of formatting is because I need the files on my windows partition). If theres a way of recovering these files and just use linux from now on or even better if there is a suggestion for what to do to keep the computer doing what it does during setup itd be much appreciated.
