Going from Mac to PC on an iPod

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-25 22:26

Okay /c/. /comp/. /Computer/. Whatever you're called.

My brother has a new computer, but has an iPod that he's been using on my dad's computer, which is an Apple. So, how would one go about transferring all that music from one computer to the other if the only way to connect to the PC means having to format the iPod?

I'm a Mitchell? Seriously, how does one do it?

...Well honestly it doesn't matter, I found a way, I just wish it were a little less messy.

Yeah, HFS+ poses a problem there. Use that MacDrive thing.

Rip the music off the iPod using the mac. There are plenty of programs that do that. Next restore the iPod using the PC. THen go mac to the mac and put the music back on the iPod.

You should check what filesystem the iPod is formatted with. All of the ones made after a certain date fairly far back were FAT32, since OS X has no problem working with that. (If it is FAT32, no reformatting going to Windows, just wipe the iPod, copy the files, and be happy.)
