uh, 30 days from when it first shows up.. unless you're running corperate

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-13 23:16

ya, i know there's a 30 day grace period, but i what to know when it will pop up

Just dont restart your computer. Got 45 days out of my first XP

If you use Internet Explorer, you don't need to worry about the 30 day period. After 25 days, you'll be so fucked up and covered in malware that you'll need to reformat.

whaaa??, no clue if >>4 and >>5 are even topic relevant

how do you check how many days until the activation msg will pop up, IT HAS NOT POPPED UP YET

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-14 18:38

You don't. If it hasn't popped up by now, it never will. You have the corporate edition, meaning no activation at all. If you were running anything else, you would get the activation message regularly telling you how many days are left.

No, you were asked to register when you installed it. Registering is entirely optional. Registering is not the same as activating.

|but i have xp pro
The difference between corporate and regular editions of XP is not whether it's XP Pro or not, but whether it was purchased under a volume license. Big businesses, schools, colleges and such don't want to dick around with activating hundreds of PCs, so they buy a volume license from Microsoft and get sent a version of XP Pro without activation, the so-called "corporate edition". If you just go out and buy (or "buy") the regular XP Pro, you don't get the corporate edition, and you have to go through the activation procedure.

Don't change these.
