wtf happened to internet explorer?

Ok, at some point in the past, for reasons that I forget, I uninstalled IE from my laptop.  Now I need it (important school sites that don't work w/ firefox)... I installed IE7, and I *cannot find it*.  Where did it go?

just to be clear: it *is* installed, because if i do windows update, ie7 opens.  I just can't find it.
