LINUX just WON'T INSTALL!!! Help URGENT

Name: NitemareNS 2006-11-29 14:14

I have an Alienware ALX Desktop.

Pentuim Core 2 Duo is the processor.

I have tried SUSE 10.1 and Unbatu 6

These are the results I get...

SUSE 32 BIT VER: After clicking Installation, the loading screen takes about 10 minutes, and the black screen with white text after that, goes all the way to the bottom and freezes at 6%. I waited for an hour...

SUSE 64 BIT VER: After clicking Installation, the loading screen does not load, meaning I never reach that black screen with the white text.

Unbatu 6 32 BIT VER: After clicking Install or Start or whatever that option is, It has a black screen with a flashing white "_" in the top left corner. I waited for an hour, and this does not change.

-------------

I have defragged my C: disk before each reboot...

SOOOO... What the hell should I do?

you should be able to switch to an alternate console by pressing alt-1, alt-2, etc.

one of those consoles ought to tell you what the installation program is doing and that will clue you in on where it is fucking up.

maybe the cds that you burned are messed up.  when I installed ubuntu I had similar symptoms as yours.  I had to burn the iso a couple times before it came out right.  (I guess I had crappy cd-rs.)

Stay away from loonix.  It is made of fail and AIDS.

Defragmenting will do nothing BTW.

Verify your CDs. Check that you aren't overheating.

Don't change these.
