Inputs on Comp

Name: w 2006-11-20 21:44

I'm sort of a noob when it comes to computers, so I need to ask a question, since my friends can't figure this out and the manual has nothing regarding this.  My computer has  inputs on it(Composite and S-Video, and another with progressive), and I want to hook up my Ps2 to it so I can play games and make it show on my pc screen.  The problem is, when I hook it up to the inputs, I don't know how to access the input video(channel, line, forgot what you call it).  I want to know how I can access it, and if I need a certain program to do so.

Uhh, what video card do you have? Chances are those are outputs only. If you do have an all-in-wonder or a dedicated TV capture card, there will be software that accompanied the card\computer that you can install to access the video input stuff.

It is an ATI radeon xpress 200 series card.  These are in fact inputs(text and all next to the holes) on my computer, my friends are here with me and they also see it.  We can get the video feed to show in a windows movie editor, but there's no full screen option or anything like that because it shows in a very small box in the editor.  I have windows media center edition(if that counts for anything).  It somewhat works, I just need to know what program I need to fully feature it and/or how to make it full screen.

Related question, dont wanna make a new thread: Anyone got a XM radio? i got one for free through a promotion, and i wanted to configure my ATI All In Wonder to accept it as the RCA input. i used the supplied cable, but i dont see where one is supposed to actually get that feed to respond to..well, anything at all. where are the controls for audio on the all in wonder cards?

Why not just plug it into the line-in on your motherboard or soundcard? You may need a red\white RCA -> 3.5mm cord to do it, but there's no need for going through your All in Wonder (even if it's one of the AIWs that has audio support.)

1) because its 6AM and best buy isnt open yet
2) that involves traveling 15 miles during rush-hour by bus next to some smelly (insert race of choice here)
3) the AIW already takes up that plug, although after reading the manuals and the help files, i still dont know why.

Well, okay. I would assume the AIW is simply passing the audio through to your sound card, then.

If you want to do it with the AIW as an intermediary, I guess you could simply flick the video software onto whatever you use for video input, and leave it in the background.. the card has no idea whether you're plugging in a Playstation's three RCA plugs or just the audio plugs from your XM receiver, so it should work fine.

OP here, there was no software that accompanied the card/computer so that I can access the inputs.  Are there any programs that I can find online that can do this?

oh, btw, like I mentioned earlier, it can show in windows movie editor, but the video is a very small screen, to small to do anything actually, and it can not be maximized.  I'm just looking for a program to maximize it.

Oops, it occured to me that the card is ATI branded, I'll go check out the ATI website for the AIW software.
