Old(ish) pc value?

Hey, Im going off to school and am just bring my laptop with me, for just basic stuff(music,movies,net,whatev) And my desktop is going to be more or less useless when I get back.

So I guess I should sell it, What do you think I can get for my computer?

512MB pc2800
80GB sata hdd
Abit IC7-MAX3 mobo
ATI radeon 9800 PRO 128mb
SB LIVE! 5.1 sound card
DVD burner
CD burner
some cheep wi-fi card (hey it works!)
and stuff (big box of cables and other goodies!)

The case its in has been kinda abused, and has lots of fans (it does keep things cool)but I could put it all into something else then sell it?

So, should I even try to sell it or just give it to a friend?

How is that going to be useless?  (Unless it's one of those crappy modern computers that do nothing but run their fans at max and give off heat, of course.)  You cannot have too many computers.

make a home theater PC out of it
and get a decent case, cpu cooler and 1-2 silent 120mm fans instead of cheapo shit

an 80GB hard drive, and you're selling it?!  do you have any idea how many copies of linux you can install on that thing?!

For the next year, I will be living in a small room with a small desk. And I will not have a lot of storage.

I plan to just have my laptop(not so great, 1.8GHz 128mb ram, runs kubuntu) with a 80GB usb hdd, and my palm TX im getting next week. I want to keep it light, just using my laptop to backup and load movies/music/books/whatever on the palm.

I will have all the computers I can handle in class.

When I get out cash is not going to be a problem, I just build a new desktop with whatever Is out in a year.

Right now money is a problem, and if I can sell my current desk top to lessen the shock to my bank account from buying the tx that would be cool, As I see no advantage in keeping it.

Oh, and I would be selling It with a blank HDD, no OS, how does this effect the price?

And Is a 19in trinitron crt worth anything these days?
