mkv converter

Rightyo so I need a mkv to avi or whatever else converter. I do have a mkv player but I still need to convert them for other purposes. so yeah, mkv converter anyone?

Also, if you don't already know, learn the differences between codec standards, codecs, and containers before you try doing anything.  It'll take between 30 minute's and two hour's worth of reading, but you'll actually know WTF you're doing.  At least read these:

AVI fails at B-frames, VBR audio, etc.

I use VirtualDubMod to demux MKV files into audio, video and subs for processing into DVDs or whatever.
