Cache question

Name: sol 2006-11-10 0:28

When the computer is running, there is a cache that is constantly used; one that is cleaned when you shut down. (Something along those lines.)

Question is this. My computer is often on for over a week or more at a time; I don't see it getting sluggish or anything similar though. Am I missing something? My computer is fairly fast (designed for graphics etc) but most certainly not a beast; plus it's about three to four years old.

I heard someone once talking about always rebooting his computer when it's been on for around six hours. Should I be doing this?

In before "delete system32 folder", etc

Lol, wut?

No.  Stop being retarded.  Tell whoever's rebooting his computer after six hours that he's retarded too.  Thread over.

In before long winded explainations of at least one of the following:

-- CPU cache
-- Disc buffers
-- Temporary files

so then it doesn't matter so long as I make sure the temp folder clutter is minimal?

Even then it won't matter, so long as you don't start to run low on disk space.  It's a good idea to clean it occasionally for privacy reasons, though.

don't need a long-winded explanation

the short and skinny is that your friend got trolled by linux people REALLY HARD

Actually, the 'rebooting every 6 hours' thing sounds a lot like my experience with Win98. If you have XP or anything Unixy though, it's stupid.

...  That's true.  Any NT-based Widows/*nix it doesn't matter, though.  Unless maybe your AV, etc are fucking something up...

You need to get new friends, ones who don't fail as hard. Also, lurk moar so you don't get their brain AIDS.

Don't change these.
