Except this technique is pathetically flawed because it relies on the user having access to both the command prompt and the task manager. Exactly the sort of things any network admin worth his salt is going to lock out for regular users.

It relies on the SYSTEM account having access to taskmgr.

It only relies on the user having access to the at command (there are other ways to run it than from cmd).

But the at command, regardless of how you run it, relies on the user being in the administrators group. This is only of use on a computer where the user has access to a local administrator-level account, or if they are in the administrators group on a domain. Only your own home PC or a *very* badly set-up corporate/academic LAN will let you do this. It is still useless crap that will never work in the real world, and its only purpose is to make kiddies think they're clever by "hacking" their friends' PCs. There are far better ways to elevate your privileges than this Fisher-Price My First Hacker shit.

Oh, that's good.  I almost thought my Enterprise Grade MVP MCSE YHBT HAND Professional Admins wouldn't be able to do this, but now I'll rest easy.

Thanks!

hah.. 1337 script kiddies at work, amirite?

Agreed, this would work on a fundamentally flawed system, but so would many other things!

Also, there are other more imaginative ways to run processes with SYSTEM priviledges on NT-based windows OS. Tricks like this won't work on the academic LAN I'm administering. :)

hey are you still around?  Could you tell me what compelled you to copy pasta that? (I wrote it).  Are you a retard?  Are you doing it because truth needs to be told to practically everyone who posts a support thread here?

I'd like to hear from you with questions/comments/feedback!
