HDTV monitor resolution

So im looking to supersize my monitor to a 37" lcd, but i can't stand small resolutions (running 2048x1536) and 1080p's are out of my pricerange. is anyone running 720p's? can they go higher than "native"?

Going higher than native resolution on a fixed-pixel display is no good.  You'd be downscaling your input signal, losing all that extra resolution you care so much about.
