optimizing utorrent

how do i? ive got a 512k connection and it only downloads at 120k.

it depends on the torrent you're downloading too. # of seeds, # peers, trackers, etc. If you're behind a router make sure your ports are forwarded. Besides that...just play around with the settings until you find something that works. Limit upload speed, limit max # of connections too. Too many of both will ultimately kill ur down speed. Also 120k ain't that bad.

im downloading the dark crusade torrent and theres about 630 seeds and 3500 seeds, i just checked the speed guide and it was set at a different speed, i fixed that and now im getting a max speed of 215k. its still downloading at 120 but it spikes every so often to 215.
should i be happy with that? i dont know too much about torrents only some general knowledge

i just typed ctrl+G and set the connection type to my relevent speed and forwarded my port to an open port. also i am poster 1 and 3

215k is a pretty respectable speed. You should be aware, though, that some ISPs use throttling to cap the speed of BitTorrent and other peer-to-peer downloads, so you'll never get your full download bandwidth. You can overcome this to some degree by turning on encryption in uTorrent's options, but not completely.
