Hey /comp/, what is a decent temperature for a CPU to idle at? Mine usually hangs around the 35-45 degrees mark (celsius) depending on what I'm doing. Is this okay?

Yes, that's fine, right in the middle of the normal running temperature range. You can safely go up to 65-70 degrees or so, (depending on what your processor is), before the thermal failsafes cut in.

No! Shut down your PC and run away as far as you can. A decent temperature for a CPU lies at -230°C -235°C.

Thanks for the reply. The only reason I ask is because I'm on a Dell Inspiron 5100 notebook, and these things are said to have CPU heat issues. I'll just make sure the vents stay clear.
