New video card?

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-19 20:09

Hey /comp/, I have a slighy dilema on my hands, and figured asking you guys would clear things up a bit.

My situation is this: I have the money for a new video card right now, but it can't be a PCI Express, I only have AGP8x at the moment. I was thinking of getting this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102057

Or I can wait 2 months to save up money and build my own machine. If I buy the card now, it's a waste of 130 dollars.

What the question mainly is, should I put out that much money for a temp card? Should I even bother for a new machine yet? I have a P42.4ghz with 768MB of DDR2700 ram.

Regardless, I need a card now...GeForce4 MX440(64mb) just isn't cutting it anymore and is frustrating the crap out of me. So if you guys think I should go for a cheaper card, which should it be?

do not get a good agp graphics card. It is a waste

A couple years ago I bought a 6800GT agp and it's severely hampering my money spending abilities. Basically my PC is as good as it possibly can be and no amount of upgrading save new motherboard, new processor, new ram, AND new video card (basically new pc territory) is going to make it run better.

And that's so sad...

Don't change these.
