Unmountable Boot Volume

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-17 22:16

I can not boot into windows XP after updating my drivers. After the logo/loading bar i get a blue screen saying:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

I have googled the problem and no command in the recovery console has worked. Any other ideas?

Wow, that fucking sucks. Sounds like a serious FUBAR. If I were you, I'd d/l a live Linux CD and use it to back up my shit, then reformat.

Try a repair install of Windows XP first. If it works, you get back more or less everything (your programs, settings and files are retained - you only lose and have to reinstall any updates from Windows Update). If it doesn't work, yes, live CD, backup, format and reinstall.

Sorry Anonymous. This failure is not your fault and there's nothing we can do to help you. For real. You're not incompetant and there's nothing you could have found at www.opera.com to help.

This has happened to the majority of us multiple times. Reinstall Windows and get a backup Samba server or network/USB hard disk to keep your important files on so the next time this happens (and it will) you don't get fucked as hard as you did this time.
