I just recently bought a 2nd ecs board after returning the first. and once again it won't load my IDE HDD, it has XP, it shuts off a min before it can go to the logo screen. It's a Dual Core CPU, 7600GT 256 graphic card, DDR2 ram, and IDE Hard Drive that wont' fucking load. Can anyone help me Please.

your computer turns off? get a new (good) powersupply

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-07 2:27

Oh, I tried two power supplies. It gets a blue screen when it asks for "Safe Mode...Safe Mode with Networking....Last Known Good Configuration....etc" I select ANYTHING it either restarts OR a bluescreen for a slight second. =\

bad memory?

try 2 power supplies at once?

One power supply to power the MOBO and the 2nd to power drives/gfx cards.

I use 2 600w psu's all the time, its the only way i can even boot this powar hungry puter

I didn't try it both at once, it's only a single PCI-E graphic card. It boots and everything but it restarts a second before windows suppose to boot up every single time. =( Thanks for you advice though, I think I'll just quit trying to get a new computer. I'm on my old hard drive right now so that proves that it's not corrupt. (?)

uh are you using an install of windows XP from your old computer to boot? If so your "shut down" is most likely a blue screen restart because your new motherboard has a different IDE controller (which causes the old driver to not work).

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-08 1:16

Yeah, thanks!! I found that out when ECS Support emailed me. But they said I had to install a "fresh" XP, is there anyway around this? Maybe install the driver before I switch my old hard drive into the NEW motherboard?
I can't set my old master HDD into slave and transfer it later....my friend told me to do this and it's not working
PLEASE HELP!

You can change the IDE controller on your old PC if you want. Too bad I deleted my guide, so I can't copy pasta it.. very well.

First thing, you gotta put the drive in old computer

now you gotta go into the device manager in windowsxp. From there select IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.. under it should be primary ide channel and secondary ide channel aswell as a third device which should be the name of your current ide controller.

Right click the name of your IDE controller, select properties > driver > update driver > select the advanced option and press next > select "don't want to search, I'll choose" and press next > Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE controller, next

From there on it should be pretty self explanitory
When done it should ask for a restart, but do not restart. Shut down the computer and move disk to new computer. Do not start windows in old computer again.

Some options may not be exact, but this should give you a general idea.
Making a clean install of Windows XP (you can easilly install over old install without losing much data) may be useful aswell if this doesn't work out.

Wow, thanks man! I owe you big time.

What if I want to use the old computer? Because you said "Do not start Windows in old computer again." I assume something bad would happen. Because I'm selling my old computer with a different (2nd drive). =D thanks

If you were to start the drive in old computer again after changing the ide controller as opposed to shutting it down.. The old controller would be installed again and you'd have to change it all over.

That's all.

Oh and if you already put it in new computer once and then booted it in old, it'd just bluescreen because new driver would be installed. Thought I'd clear it up

oh thanks =) but my old master hard drive got f-ked up cuz i dunno...i think cuz i set the jumpers to slave...thanks anyways man =( I wish I got your post 3 mins earlier

Don't change these.
